Dogsledding is a popular winter activity for visitors to Tromsø. Choosing to go as a passenger is perfect for those who travel with younger children or those who prefer not to work up a sweat while on vacation. With a guide driving your sled, you will also be able to learn about the huskies and the landscapes on the trail. What are you waiting for? Sit down and experience the arctic from the sled dog perspective. Before the tour, you need to meet outside the Radisson Blu Hotel where a Tromsø Villmarkssenter representative awaits you. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts. They will make sure you get in the correct vehicle and after a 25-minute transfer, you will arrive at Tromsø Villmarkssenter. There you will be greeted by your guide and offered to change into a thermal suit and boots before going to the sleds. A musher will drive you for 45-60 minutes while you sit with a member of your family, a friend, or another guest in the sled. After the tour, you will get a guided tour of the dog yard, which is the home of about 300 Alaskan huskies of all ages. The guides will be sharing their knowledge about huskies, competitive dogsled racing, and more. Having spent most of the tour outdoors it will be time to warm up inside. Seated around a central fireplace you will get to enjoy hot drinks. For lunch, you will have bidos, a traditional Sami reindeer dish, or a vegetarian alternative (if requested in advance). A piece of chocolate cake follows the lunch, and then it is time to head back to Tromsø.
