The Aurora Husky Visit has two components to it. First, you will get to meet and learn about the 300 Alaskan huskies that live at Tromsø Villmarkssenter. Then, you will walk to the northern lights platform on site. The guide will share their knowledge of the aurora borealis with you while you wait for the green lady to appear. Indoor eating facilities and restrooms help to ensure a comfortable stay for the evening. The meeting place for the tour is outside of the Radisson Blu Hotel 15 minutes before the tour starts. An employee of Tromsø Villmarkssenter will greet you and lead you to the transfer vehicle. During the 25-minute transfer, you will leave the lights of the city behind you as you head into the Arctic countryside. Tromsø Villmarkssenter is remote enough that the northern lights can be seen there frequently once the nights are dark. On arrival, the guide for the night will meet you and arrange for you to change into the provided thermal suit and boots. First, you will have a tour of the dog yard. Some dogs will already have cuddled up in their doghouse to sleep, while others will be up and ready for your cuddles. You will also be stopping by the puppy enclosures. After having seen the dogs it is time to go to the northern lights platform. It is just a short walk away from the dog yard and has sitting areas prepared. Whether the aurora appears or not your guide will be with you, ready to dim the lights. While looking out they'll also keep you entertained with both the facts and folklore surrounding the lights. The tour finishes off indoors around a fire. For dinner, there is bacalao, which is a codfish dish that combines the tastes of the Portuguese and Norwegian kitchen. A vegetarian alternative will be available if requested before the tour. You can enjoy some hot drinks and there will be a slice of chocolate cake to finish the meal off. Then before it gets too late, you will be going back to the city where you can have a full night of sleep. COVID-19 measures: If you have symptoms similar to the flu or the common cold, you should not take part in the tour. The main symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, couching, sore throat, and breathing difficulty. Before entering the transport, you must use the provided hand sanitizer. Only use seats that are not facing others. After going out of the transport you must keep a 1-meter distance from the guides and other participants. When you enter the front desk area, lavvus, or gamme you need to use the provided hand sanitizer. You can also find handwashing facilities in the building next to the front desk. In the front desk area, you must follow the line system and stay in the marked waiting spots. You cannot share equipment you borrow from Tromsø Villmarkssenter with other guests. All equipment is cleaned between use according to the requirements set by the government. You may only sit with members of your travel party for meals. All contact surfaces and transport are disinfected between every group. Disclaimers and supplier contact: The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and are not guaranteed to be seen. The description of the tour follows the typical program itinerary. Minor changes may occur depending on the group size, weather, or other factors on the supplier's side. Once you have ordered a tour you will receive the contact information for the supplier. Please contact them directly for specific questions about the adventure or special requests.
